Sheaffer Run 4-8-2020

The steam held a good bit of water from the previous nights rain and some of the fish were actually active.
This is one Ed caught. Removing the hook and making the release as painless as possible.
We used dry flies for part of the day and it was a pleasure to actually cast. But, alas, most of the fish were holding on the bottom making nymphs a more…
This part of the stream will light up when the bugs come off in numbers.
This was one of the nicer fish that I brought to the net but, as the story goes, the bigger ones got away
Lots of pockets and pools to explore.
This is a new stretch of the stream for us. I'm glad we went exploring.
Another beauty that I was lucky enough to catch. They looked much more colorful in person though.
And here's another. Gotta love these little brookies. What they lack in size they more than make up for in fight and beauty.
This is the typical location where we were finding the fish. Not much activity in the rapids as you might expect from Brookies.
